How to Start

Welcome to the digital rules for Fallout Factions. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know to start playing.

What You Need to Play

To play a game of Fallout Factions, you will need:

  • Models: Each player needs a crew of models representing their faction.
  • Dice: The game uses two types of ten-sided dice (D10): standard and luck dice.
  • Measuring Tool: A tape measure or ruler marked in inches.
  • Terrain: A collection of terrain to create an interesting battlefield.
  • Tokens: Various tokens to track model status, objectives, and other in-game effects.

Core Concepts

Before you play your first game, it's important to understand a few core concepts:

  • Crews: You'll build a crew of models from one of the wasteland factions. Each model has its own stats and abilities.
  • S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Tests: Most actions are resolved through S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Tests, where you roll dice against a model's attribute.
  • Actions: During a model's activation, it can perform actions like Get Moving, Open Fire, or Brawl.

Playing a Game

A game of Fallout Factions is played in three main phases:

  1. Battle Preparation: Before the game begins, you and your opponent will go through several steps to set up the battlefield, determine the scenario, and deploy your crews.

  2. The Battle: Players take turns activating one model from their crew at a time. The Battle Reference page contains a summary of all the actions and rules you'll need during the game.

  3. After Battle: Once the game is over, you proceed to the story phase, where you resolve the outcome, earn experience, and see how your crew develops.
