Battlefield Elements

This section details the various physical elements you'll encounter on the battlefield, from terrain that shapes movement and line of sight to tokens that represent objectives and points of interest.

Terrain Types

Terrain is categorized into three types, each with its own impact on the game.

Major Terrain

Major terrain pieces are substantial elements on the battlefield, such as buildings, large rock formations, or wrecked vehicles.

  • Size: At least 4" in height and width.
  • Rules: Blocks line of sight and provides Cover.

Minor Terrain

Minor terrain includes smaller items like barrels, crates, or fences.

  • Size: Between 1" and 4" in height and width.
  • Rules: Provides Cover but does not block line of sight.

Decorative Terrain

Decorative terrain adds character to the battlefield but has no effect on gameplay. Examples include rubble, small debris, or patches of wasteland grass.

  • Size: Smaller than 1" in any dimension.
  • Rules: No gameplay effect.

Battlefield Tokens

Tokens are used to mark important locations or objects on the battlefield.

Search Token

Search tokens indicate locations that can be investigated for resources. A model can perform a Search Action when in base contact with a search token.

Radiation Token

These tokens signify areas of dangerous radiation. Models ending their activation within 1" of a radiation token may suffer Radiation Damage.

Objective Token

Objective tokens are specific to certain scenarios and represent goals that crews must achieve, such as capturing a location or retrieving an item.

Uncontested Tokens

A token is considered uncontested if there is at least one friendly model within 1" of it and no enemy models within the same distance. This concept is often crucial for scoring objectives and controlling the battlefield.
