Scenario 5: Cattle Drive
Quick Reference
- The player who chose the Scenario is the Attacker; the other is the Defender.
- Board 36" wide. Setup Areas are full-depth strips on opposite short edges, chosen by Roll Off.
- Place 3 Objective Tokens (herds) on the centerline: one at center, one 9" to each side.
- Players alternate placing 5 Search Tokens (Defender first; 4" from other Tokens and either Setup Area).
- Don't Spook Them!: firing or Rummaging near an unclaimed nearest Objective Token drives it 3" toward the opponent's Setup Area. A Token is claimed by whoever has more Friendly than Enemy models within 3".
- Attacker deploys first and takes the Initiative Token; game lasts 3 Rounds or until a crew Retreats.
- Special Ploy — Lasso: either player moves an Objective Token up to 3" toward a Setup Area.
- Scenario Points: at the end of each Round, whoever has the most total Health within 3" of a Token claims it and scores 1 point. Most points wins.
- Story Outcome: winner rolls 4 dice for Caps and gains 2 Control.
Overview
The player who chose this Scenario is the Attacker, and the other is the Defender. In this Scenario, the Attacker is attempting to drive Brahmin or other herd animals, and the Defender is intercepting them. [Battle for Boston pg. 57]
Orientation
Once Terrain has been set up, the players Roll Off. The winner chooses one side of the Battlefield to be the Attacker Setup Area. The other is the Defender Setup Area. [Battle for Boston pg. 57]
Objective Tokens
Once Terrain has been set up, place one Objective Token in the center of the Battlefield, and two additional Objective Tokens each on the centerline of the Battlefield and 9" from the center point towards the long Battlefield edges. Objective Tokens represent Brahmin herds or other groups of animals. [Battle for Boston pg. 57]
Search Tokens
After Objective Tokens have been set up, the players take turns placing a Search Token on the Battlefield, starting with the Defender, until five Tokens have been placed. [Battle for Boston pg. 57]
A player cannot place a Search Token within 4" of another Search Token or either Setup Area. [Battle for Boston pg. 57]
Starting Positions

Deployment map (pg. 57): The Battlefield is 36" wide. The two Setup Areas are strips running the full depth of the Battlefield along opposite short edges: the Attacker Setup Area (red, one short edge) and the Defender Setup Area (blue, the opposite short edge); the winner of the Roll Off chooses which side is which. Three Objective Tokens (numbered herds) sit on the centerline: one at the exact center of the Battlefield, and one 9" to either side of it (toward each long edge), shown by the vertical "9"" measurement between the center token and its neighbor. The Attacker starts with the Initiative Token. The game lasts for 3 Rounds.
The Attacker sets up all of their models wholly within the Attacker Setup Area. Then, they take the Initiative Token. The Defender sets up all of their models wholly within the Defender Setup Area. [Battle for Boston pg. 57]
Special Rules
Don't Spook Them!
Whenever a model makes an Open Fire or Rummage Action, check if the closest Objective Token (choose one if multiple are equidistant) to them is claimed by that model's player. An Objective Token is claimed by a player when they have more Friendly models within 3" than Enemy models. [Battle for Boston pg. 57]
If it is, then nothing happens. If it is not, then move the Objective Token closest to them 3" towards their opponent's Setup Area. If an Objective Token is already in their opponent's Setup Area, it does not move further. [Battle for Boston pg. 57]
Special Ploy: Lasso
Either player can enact this Ploy at the start of one of their Turns. Move an Objective Token up to 3" towards a Setup Area. [Battle for Boston pg. 57]
Scenario Details
The game lasts for three Rounds, or until a crew Retreats. [Battle for Boston pg. 57]
Scenario Points
At the end of each Round, each player compares the total Health scores of all their models that are within 3" of an Objective Token. The player with the most Health claims the Objective Token and scores 1 point. The crew who scores the most points is the winner. [Battle for Boston pg. 57]
Story Outcomes
The winner rolls four dice and adds that many Caps to their Stash. They also gain 2 Control in this Location. [Battle for Boston pg. 57]
