Scenario 6: Trapped!

Quick Reference
  • The player who chose the Scenario is the Attacker; the other is the Defender.
  • Board 36" × 24". The Defender Setup Area is a 6" strip down the center; two Attacker Setup Areas (6" strips) sit against each short edge, boxing the Defender in.
  • Place 6 Objective Tokens in the two open lanes (four 6" from long edges & 12" from short edges; two 12" from short edges on the centerline).
  • Players alternate placing 5 Search Tokens (Defender first; 4" from other Tokens, 1" from Objectives, 2" from either Setup Area).
  • Move the Supplies: carry an Objective Token (start a Get Moving within 1"); carrying models move 4" less.
  • Get Out of Here!: a Defender model reaching a short edge with an Objective removes both from play — not counted as Incapacitated or fled.
  • Attacker deploys first (a Champion first in each Setup Area used) and takes the Initiative Token; game lasts 3 Rounds, until the Attacker Retreats, or no Defenders remain. The Defender may not Retreat.
  • Special Ploy — Cheese It!: at game start, Defender shuffles each model up to 4" within their Setup Area.
  • Scenario Points: Defender 3 per Token extracted; Attacker points = total Health of Enemies Incapacitated. If the Attacker Retreats, the Defender automatically wins.
  • Story Outcome: winner gains 1 XP and an extra Story Action.

Overview

The player who chose this Scenario is the Attacker, and the other is the Defender. In this Scenario, the Attacker has encircled the Defender and is trying to destroy them as thoroughly as possible. The Defender needs to grab their supplies and flee, but doing so involves going through their enemies. [Battle for Boston pg. 58]

Objective Tokens

Place six Objective Tokens as in the diagram above. Four should be placed 6" from the long Battlefield edges, and 12" from the short Battlefield edges. The final two should be placed 12" from the short Battlefield edges along the centerline perpendicular to the two short Battlefield edges. [Battle for Boston pg. 58]

Search Tokens

The players take turns placing a Search Token on the Battlefield, starting with the Defender, until five Tokens have been placed. [Battle for Boston pg. 58]

A player cannot place a Search Token within 4" of another Search Token, within 1" of an Objective Token, or within 2" of either Setup Area. [Battle for Boston pg. 58]

Starting Positions

Scenario 6: Trapped! deployment map

Deployment map (pg. 58): The Battlefield is 36" wide (long edges top and bottom) and 24" tall (short edges left and right). Reading left to right there are five vertical bands: an Attacker Setup Area (a 6"-wide strip against the left short edge), an open lane, the Defender Setup Area (a 6"-wide strip down the center), a second open lane, and a second Attacker Setup Area (a 6"-wide strip against the right short edge). The Defender is boxed in the middle by an Attacker Setup Area on either short edge. Six Objective Tokens (white circles) sit in the two open lanes, three per lane: four are placed 6" from the long Battlefield edges and 12" from the short edges, and the last two sit 12" from the short edges on the centerline running between the two short edges (dimension arrows on the map read 6", 3", 9", and 12" locating the tokens relative to the setup-area edges). The Attacker starts with the Initiative Token. The game lasts for 3 Rounds.

The Defender sets up all of their models wholly within the Defender Setup Area. The Attacker sets up all of their models wholly within the Attacker Setup Areas. However, they must Deploy a Champion in one of their Setup Areas before Deploying any other models in that particular Attacker Setup Area. Then, they take the Initiative Token. [Battle for Boston pg. 58]

Special Rules

Move the Supplies

If a model from either crew is within 1" of an Objective Token at the start of a Get Moving Action, the Active model can declare that they will carry the Objective. Once a player has moved and completed the Action, move the Objective Token from its original position until it is in contact with the model's Base. If a model starts a Get Moving Action within 1" of more than one Objective Token, choose which Token is moved. Models carrying Objectives move 4" less than usual. [Battle for Boston pg. 58]

The Token should be in contact with the part of the model's Base that is closest to where the Token was previously situated. [Battle for Boston pg. 58]

Get Out of Here!

If the Defender moves a Friendly model to either short edge of the Battlefield (the Battlefield edges in an Attacker Setup Area), that model may choose to Get Out of Here! If it does, remove both the model and an Objective Token in Base Contact with it from play. It is not considered to have been Incapacitated or have fled. [Battle for Boston pg. 58]

Special Ploy: Cheese It!

The Defender may enact this Ploy at the start of the game, before the start of the first Turn. Move each model up to 4" within the Defender's Setup Area. [Battle for Boston pg. 58]

Scenario Details

The game lasts for three Rounds, until the Attacker Retreats, or there are no Defender models remaining in play. The Defender may not Retreat. [Battle for Boston pg. 59]

Scenario Points

At the end of the game, the Defender scores 3 points for each Objective Token removed using Get Out of Here! [Battle for Boston pg. 59]

The Attacker scores points equal to the total Health of all Enemy models that have been Incapacitated. [Battle for Boston pg. 59]

The crew that scores the most points is the winner. However, if the Attacker Retreats, the Defender automatically wins. [Battle for Boston pg. 59]

Story Outcomes

The winner gains 1 Experience Point. In addition, the winning crew can make an extra Story Action in the Story Phase after this game. [Battle for Boston pg. 59]
